Happy November! Time to break out the long sleeves, get your holiday recipes together, and enjoy some
family time. With Thanksgiving this month and Christmas right around the corner there’s no better to catch
up with family and friends during breaks and holidays. It’s about sharing a few quality moments together
and telling those around that you love them and are so thankful that they are in your life.
Spending time together as a family can sometimes be stressful. Parenthood isn’t always easy but it’s the most
rewarding job in life. When your kids tell you that they love you even after you took away their favorite toy or
made them turn off Mindcraft, that’s what makes the stress of a family worth it. No matter what age you are,
still tell you parents that you love them.
All year I have been talking about giving; giving time, material things like supplies and donations, and of
yourself. Hopefully you have felt the joy that giving has blessed you with or maybe you were the one who was
on the receiving end. When we give of ourselves our children notice. Author Janeen Lewis writes, “Raising a
Giver,” and gives us seven tips how we can raise our children to be givers by setting examples.
November is also Veterans Day, it is a time to celebrate the peace and freedom that we enjoy and to honor
those who’ve fought to give us those precious gifts. There are many ways you can do that, write a note or
send an email if you have someone in your family or a neighbor, take time to listen to their story, call the
VA hospital and ask what you can do, or teach your child a patriotic song like American the Beautiful or
the Star Spangled Banner, teach patriotism early.
We here at TC Parenting hope everyone enjoys all that November has to offer.
“ Be thankful for what you have, you’ll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don’t have you’ll never
have enough.”- Oprah Winfrey
